Castillo de Almodóvar del Rio

The name Almodóvar comes from the Arabic word al-Mudawwar, which means 'the round', a reference to the hill on which this castle has been built. The castle was built in the 14th century in Gothic style and has been considered as one of the most important castles in Andalusia because of its beauty and perfect condition. From the castle there is a fine view of the countryside of Córdoba

Medina Azahara

The magnificent new capital Medina Azahara was build in 936 and short-lived. In 1013, during the Caliphate's collapse, Medina Azahara was wrecked by Berber soldiers. Though less than one-tenth of the city has been excavated, and only about a quarter of that is open to visitors. Medina Azahara is still intriguing, and its rural location adds to appeal.

Palma del Rio

Palma del Rio is located in the heart of the countryside of Córdoba. On the top of the hill lies the 'Ermita de la Virgen de Belén', the patroness of the city. Palma del Rio has a tradition of characteristic earthenware such as water-cans, wine-jar, soup-tureens and flower-pots.
